Deepa Devanathan
Extern

Deepa Devanathan serves as an Extern for the Civil Jury Project at NYU School of Law.  Her research interests include tort reform, civil and criminal juries, and judicial processes.  Deepa earned her B.A. in political science, cum laude, from Washington University in St. Louis where she served as President of the Mock Trial Team.  She is currently a rising 2L at NYU School of Law where she serves as a staff editor of NYU Law Moot Court Board, a fellow at the Center on the Administration of Criminal Law, and as Vice President of NYU Law’s Trial Advocacy Team.

 

 

Katherine Stein

Kate Stein is a J.D. Candidate at NYU School of Law, Class of 2019. She is currently working as a legal intern at the Securities and Exchange Commission as part of the summer honors program, where she is staffed in the enforcement division on asset management related matters. In addition, she works as a research assistant to Professor Jennifer Arlen, head of the Program on Corporate Compliance and Enforcement. Prior to attending law school, Kate worked as a litigation paralegal at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, where she worked on predominantly residential mortgage-backed securities cases. She received her B.A., summa cum laude and Phil Beta Kappa, from Hamilton College, where she studied English Literature and Philosophy. Kate plans to focus her coursework on securities litigation and white collar matters and hopes to eventually become a trial attorney. She is particularly interested in the intersection between the rise of the administrative state and the decline of the civil jury.
